#564: Is it permissible for a Pastor to conduct Nikāh for a Muslim Man and a Christian Lady?
QUESTION
” Asallam Alaikum Waramotullahi Wabarakatuh, a lady is a Christian with her parent now wanted to marry a devoted Muslim boy ,this boy agreed to marry her but her parent insist that there Pastor is the person that they will be allow to do the joining together in a Christian way ,my question is,is it allow in Sheria to do that, please I want evidence from Qur’an and Hadith to back it.”
ANSWER
Wa alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh.
Alhamdulillāh.
This is not permissible. And if the Pastor were to conduct this Nikāh in the Christian way, it remains obligatory for the Muslim brother to redo the Nikāh in the way that it is legislated in the Sharī’a.
Our advice: That this brother desists from this sort of marriage and seek a Pious Muslim Sister for marriage. We are not in short of Pious Muslim Sisters who hold into their Dīn. In so doing its safety for his Dīn, reduction of the many Muslim sisters that are single, and sanity for his future home and offspring by Allāh’s will.
