#567: Ruling on getting paid for providing Jobs for People
QUESTION
” Assalamu alaikum. Please I have a question in need of urgent response, what’s the ruling on a man who acts as a mediator between people who needs to get a job and those who can do the job, as in a middle man, but he gets paid in the process?”
ANSWER
Wa alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh.
Alhamdulillāh
We are sorry for a delay in the response to your question.
Bārakallāhu fīkum.
It is permissible that he gets paid in the process as long as there is neither exploitation nor anything hidden in this process.
It must be spelt out right from its onset, between the Middler and the Employer, and between the Middler and the Employee-to-be that this service is to be paid for as he is serving as a Human Resource Consultant and that such and such an amount is to be paid for his service.
Whenever it takes the form of exploitation and deception either against the employer or the employee, it becomes Harām.
And Allāh knows best
