#675: Is a Nikāh that was concluded with Salātu al-Fātih considered sound?
QUESTION:
“Assalamu alaykum, may Allah bless your knowledge.. Is a marriage conducted by an innovator valid recitating salatil fatih in it, even when the bridegroom knows he (the one conducting) is an innovator but cannot change him due to the bride’s family”
ANSWER:
Wa Alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh.
Alhamdulillāh and may Allāh Grant for you same as the Du’ā you made, amīn.
Know, may Allāh bless us all, that Salātu Al-Fātih was never recorded from the Rasūl – salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam – in a Sahīh, Da’īf or even Fabricated Hadīth.
Rather, it is a compilation written by some of the Innovative Communities.
The Tījaniyyah claimed that it’s founder, Ahmad At-Tījānī who passed away in the year 1850 CE met with the Rasūl – salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam – and he taught him this Salāt.
Aside what this claim entails of fiction, it is known that in the Authentically reported Hadīth from the Rasūl – salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam – as recorded by Imām Al-Bukhārī – rahimahullāh – from Ka’ab bn ‘Ujrah – radiyallāhu ‘anhu – the Rasūl – salallāhu’ alayhi wasallam – has mentioned the best way that Salāt be made upon him.
That said, in this Salātu Al-Fātih is an Innovation.
It should be known that despite this, the recitation of this in the performance of a Nikāh has no impact on the authenticity of the Nikāh.
This is because the conditions of the Nikāh, known, are not trampled or vilified by virtue of it’s recitation.
This said, a brother must take the initiative to ensure that he organizes his Nikāh right from the onset in such a way that he leaves no room for the innovators and their kinds to take the charge of his Nikāh.
And Allāh knows best.
Bārakallāhu Fīkum.
Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
