Ramadān, The School of Patience
*Ramadān, The School of Patience.*
The blessed month of Ramadān is the month of patience. The essence of patience is to bear something, and this is of three types in this regard.
Patience on obedience, patience from sins, and patience on what Allāh has decreed. And all these three are found in fasting, for in it there is patience on obedience be it prayers, recitation of Qur’an, supplications, and patience from Haram or desires, then patience on what one may feel during fasting of hunger and thirst.
And one of the greatest patience is the patience on the foolishness of an ignorant person and his trouble to get you out from your obedience and to nullify your fasting.
The Rasūl salallāhu’alayhi wasallam said:
_Fasting is a shield, So, the person observing fasting should avoid sexual relation with his wife and should not behave foolishly and impudently, and if somebody fights with him or abuses him, he should tell him twice, ‘I am fasting…”_
Thus, beware of dispute and turn aside from the ignorant ones.
