Quarantine Measures, Social Distancing and Isolation

Quarantine measures, Social Distancing and Isolation are very established measures to combat disease spread in the Sunnah of the Rasul salallahu alayhi wasallam. There are several Ahadith that mention things that are related to that.

Of them is the Hadith recorded by Imam Muslim from Abu Hurayrah radiyallahu anhu that the Rasul salallahu alayhi wasallam said:

لاَ يُورِدَنَّ مُمْرِضٌ عَلَى مُصِحٍّ

“Let not a diseased camel be brought with a healthy camel to drink water.”

Except that the Believer must know that this is by way of taking precautions and doing the command of Allah to take same. The ultimate control belongs in the Hands of Allah.

This was the explanation made by Imam An-Nawawi in his Commentary on Sahih Muslim.
