This group is formed this morning
And is named ‘Sandala’ which is the Croatian word for Sandal
In 1020H, the Shāfi’ī Shaykh Al-Maqqarī At-Tilmisānī – rahimahullāh – wrote a book titling it: ‘Fat’hu Al-Muta’āl Fī Madhi An-Ni’āl’ (The Opening of the Majesty, on Eulogizing the Sandal)
He divided the book into an introduction, four chapters and then a conclusion.
The Introduction was on the definition of Sandal and other foot wears
Chapter one focused on what has been reported about the Sandals of the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam
Chapter two was on what has been reported about the Sandals of Poetry and words
Chapter three was on what Scholars have said about the Sandals of the Beloved
Chapter four was on the various reported impacts of the Sandals
Chapter five was about the proverbs and idioms associated with the Sandals.
Of what he mentioned is the shape of the Sandals of the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam,
Which is iconic.
There are reports that a sample of the sandal exists today
Some Ulamā doubt its attribution to the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam. But did not doubt some of the narrations of Al-Maqqarī. Ibn Kathīr mentioned that it was reported that one leg of one of the pairs of the Blessed Sandals was that that was kept in Dāru Al-Hadīth Al-Ashrafiyyah as a relic among relics. Allāh knows best.
For us, the iconic Sandal is our yearn to thread in the Footsteps of the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam – in Da’wah and guidance. We ask Allāh for His help and guidance.
Allāh indeed said:
ومن أحسن قولا من من دعى إلى الله وعمل صالحا وقال إنني من المسلمين
“And who is better of speech than he who calls unto Allāh, does excellent deeds, and professes ‘I am indeed of the Muslims'”
We will Allāh willing, make a commentary of this verse and explain its meanings. And at the same time, we will mention the purpose of the establishment of this group and mention its goals. Allāh-willing. My personal expectation from this group is high, and my estimations of the members here is same. I am sure everyone here is a leader in himself and we ask Allāh for Guidance and Tawfiq…
