#1037: The Effects Of Iblis’s Hatred Of The Rasul Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam
Please could you explain this better. The hatred the shaitan has in his mind towards the prophet blinded him to the reality of his ability towards the Rasul alaihi salatu was-salam
ANSWER:
Alhamdulillah.
What we meant by that statement is, the hatred one harbors in his mind against another is in degrees. Hate is a strong emotion that can lead one to perform foolish actions that a right-thinking person will not do. And nothing makes one act foolishly because of hate except that the extent of hate has covered thinking faculty.
For this reason, Abu Huraira reported that: A man came to the Prophet Sallalahu alaihi wasallam and he said, “Advise me.” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Do not be angry.” The man repeated his request and the Prophet said, “Do not be angry.”
(Bukhari).
And this is a known trait of Iblis the leader of all shayaatin that blinded him to make the foolish choice of preferring the wrath of Allah instead of seeking His mercy.
This anger clouded the thinking of the shaitan that attempted attacking the Prophet while praying and made him forget that he cannot harm the Rasul alaihi salam and as a result the shaitan was disgraced.
So, based on the above, our statement was in a bid to explain the action of Iblis against the Prophet alaihi salaam when compared to how he behaves with Umar ibn Khattab radiyallahu anhu.
And Allah knows best.
