“As Salāmu Alaykum Warahmatullāh wabarakātuh… Ya Shaykh, is there basis for wedding certificate in Islam?”

ANSWER:

Wa Alaykum Salam Warahmatullah Wabarakaatuh.

There is nothing wrong with having Wedding Certificates in Islam if it is so desired by the couples or their Awliyaa.

But what must be stressed is that it is not among the conditions that must be met for the Nikaah to be sound and acceptable in Islam.
