Q&A (Fatwa)

#87. SAYING BISMILLAH BEFORE THE ADHAAN

“Salam ‘alaikum. Please Is it allowed to say “Bismillah before calling to prayer (Adhaan)?”

ANSWER

Wa alaykum salaam warahmatullaah wabarakaatuh

There is nothing that has been reported from the Rasul – salallaahu alayhi wasallam or any of the predecessors – asking us to say the bismillah before the Adhaan.

Rather, it is an innovation that was invented by some ignoramus that has no basis in Islam.
Let us realise that the best of guidance is that of the Rasul – salallaahu alayhi wasallam

Baarakallaahu feekum
Jazaakmuullaahu khayran
