“Assalamu Alaykum. ANSWER:
Wa Alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh.
May Allāh reward you abundantly.
It is highly recommended that you fulfill your promise as this is a form of pledge made to Allāh to give out of your wealth. Allāh Ta’ālā said, while describing the Believers:
يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْماً كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطِيراً
“They fulfill the Promises (of ‘Ibadah) they have made and they fear a Day whose evil is overreaching”
And while speaking of the decadence of the Later Days, the Rasūl -salallāhu Alayhi Wasallam – said in the Hadīth that is recorded by Imām Al-Bukhārī
خيركم قرني، ثم الذين يلونهم، ثم الذين يلونهم، ثم يجيء قوم ينذرون ولا يفون..
“The Best of you are the Generation in which I am, then those who come after them then those who come after them, then a People will come who will make their Oaths (to make some Ibādah) and they will not fulfill it”
But there is no blame upon you in delaying it’s fulfilment if there is need for a delay. And what is apparent from the situation you depicted is that you have some difficulty to settle.
What therefore becomes logical is that you delay the fulfilment of the Promise that you had made. And as you have already given a half, to complete the half that is left when Allāh makes that easy for you. And Allāh is the One who grants capabilities
Bārakallāhu Fīkum
