DAILY POST #103
Imaam Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani – rahimahullaah – said:
It is reported from Sahl Ibn Sa’d radiyallaahu anhu- who said – The Messenger of Allah -salallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
“Haste comes from Shaitaan.”
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Tirmidhi in his “Sunan”#2012 and He graded it as Hasan. Imaam Al-Albaani declared it as weak hadith in Da’ifu Al-jaami’#2300.
COMMENTARY
The hadith shows the importance of the following:
1. It shows that it is disliked for one to be in Haste in his affairs. Generally, people are always in haste and they are not patient. They prefer things to come to them immediately without any delay.
Allah says:” Man is created of haste…”. But Allah loves those that are patient in things. Allah says: Truly! Allah is with the patient ones.
2. It indicates that haste is from shaitaan. And Allah Has commanded us not to follow the footsteps of shaitaan and his allies. Because doing that will lead to nothing but destruction of one’s religion in this dunya and entering of hell on the day of Resurrection.
Allah says: ” O you who believe! Follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan).
Allah says: “And whosoever follows the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan), then, verily he commands Al-Fahsha’ [i.e. to commit indecency, zina etc.)], and Al-Munkar [disbelief and polytheism (i.e. to do evil and wicked deeds; to speak or to do what is forbidden in Islam, etc.).”
We beseech Allah not to count us among those that follow the footsteps of shaitaan. Aameen.
3. However, this does not mean one should be lazy and sluggish in his affairs. Rather, one should be balanced in between. One should hasten for what will benefit him in this dunya and hereafter and He should be gentle and patient where it is required.
