Imaam Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani – rahimahullaah – said:
It is reported from Ibn Umar radiyallaahu anhuma- who said – The Messenger of Allah -salallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
“A believer who mingles with people and tolerate their harm is better than the one who does not mingle with people and does not tolerate their harm.”
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Ibn Majah in his “Sunan”#4032 with a good chain of narrators. Shaykh Al-Albaani declared it as Sahih in Mishkat Al-Misaabih# 5087.
COMMENTARY
The hadith shows the importance of the following:
♦ It indicates that one who mingles with people and endures their annoyance and harm is better than one who does not mingle with them and does not ensure their harm.
♦ It shows the importance of mingling with people, commanding them with good deeds and forbidding them from evil.
♦ Lastly, the mingling with people depends on situations and individuals. At times refraining from mingling with them may be better especially if such people have ill-behaving and one could not correct them.
