Imaam Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani – rahimahullaah – said:
It is reported from A’isha radiyallaahu anha- who said – The Messenger of Allah -salallaahu alayhi wasallam taught her this supplication:
“اللهم، إني أسألك من الخير كله عاجله وآجله،ماعلمت منه ومالم أعلم، وأعوذبك من الشر كله عاجله وآجله، ما
علمت منه وما لم أعلم، اللهم إني أسألك من خير ما سألك عبدك ونبيك، وأعوذبك من شر ما عاذ منه عبدك ونبيك،
اللهم إني أسألك الجنة، وما قرب إليها من قول أو عمل، وأعوذبك من النار، وما قرب إليها من قول أو عمل،
وأسألك أن تجعل كل قضاء قضيته لي خيرا ً”
“Allahumma, inni Asaluka minal Khayri kullihi A’jilihi wa Ajilihi, maa A’limtu minhu wamaa lam A’alam, wa au’dhubika Minashsharri kullihi A’jilihi wa Ajilihi, maa A’limtu minhu wa maa lam A’alam, Allahumma inni Asaluka min khayri maa sa alaka A’bduka wa Nabiyyuka, wa Au’dhubika min sharri maa A’dha minhu A’bduka wa Nabiyyuka, Allahumma inni Asalukal Jannah, wamaa qarraba ilayha min qawlin Aw A’mal, wa Au’dhubika minannaar, wamaa qarraba ilayha min qawlin Aw A’mal, wa Asaluka Antaja’la kulla qadaain qadaitahu li khayran.”
Meaning: Oh Allah! I ask you of all the goodness in this world and Hereafter of what I know and of what I do not know, and I seek refuge in You from the evil in this world and Hereafter of what I know and what I do not know, oh Allah! I ask You of all the goodness that Your servant and Prophet used to ask of You.
And I seek refuge in You from all the evil that Your Servant and Prophet used to seek refuge in from You. Oh Allah! I ask You for Paradise and what brings me nearer to it of words and deeds, and I seek refuge in You from Hell and what brings me closer to it of words and deeds, and I ask You to make all Your Decree a good consequences for me.
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Ibn Majah in his “Sunan”#3846. Shaykh Al-Albaani declared it as Sahih in Sahihu Al-Jaami’#1276.
COMMENTARY
The hadith shows the importance of the following:
♦ It indicates the importance of the Dua’.
♦ It shows that it is good for one to ask Allah for the goodness in this world and Hereafter and also seek refuge in Allah from all the evil in this Dunya and Hereafter.
♦ It encourages to supplicate to Allah for the good consequences of His Degree.
♦ Lastly, it encourages one to be supplicating to Allah by saying the above Dua’.
