#112: Ruling on the Non-Muslim taking the Shahaadah?
Salam alaikum. Please sir. If someone wants to make the sha’adah into Islam. What are the necessary steps? Please this needs an urgent answer”_
*ANSWER*
Wa alaykum salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh
Alhamdulillāh
Firstly, we apologise for the delay in answering this question. It is due to the many ness of the questions we needed to answer to, the fact that it largely went unnoticed and the innate weakness if our souls. We ask Allah for forgiveness.
We congratulate the one who wants to accept Islam and we congratulate the one who invited and called him/her to Islam. Bārakallāhu Fīkum.
The first and main thing to do in the situation depicted is to express and voice out the Shahādah (Lā Ilāha Illallāh Muhammad Ar-Rasūlillāh) and it is important to hasten that and not to waste time in delaying before saying it.
The next step after that is to do the Ghusl prayers.
Imām An-Nawawī – rahimahullāh – said in the Majmū’:
_”If a Kāfir wants to become Muslim, then he must hasten to it and not delay it for the purpose of making the Ghusl. Instead it is obligatory to hurry to become Muslim and it is seriously Harām to delay it due to Ghusl or anything else. Likewise, if he seeks the support of a Muslim in that, it is strictly and severely Harām for the one whose support is sought to ask him to delay it until after the Ghusl. Instead it is obligatory that he encourages him to hurry with becoming Muslim. This is what is correct t and truth.”_
The new entree into Islam should know that Islām effaces all sins that were committed before it and Allāh has promised great rewards for such people as became Muslims in their lifetimes.
Then too, s/he must be in the company of those who will strenghten his/her faith and teach him/her the Dīn of Allāh for Islam pays much attention to knowledge seeking, discipline and understanding.
If it is a lady, then it is important for the Muslim community next to her to arrange for her marriage and support in that regard to a Muslim who is upright and can take charge of her growth in the Dīn.
We ask Allah to guide the Non-Muslims in our communities to Islam and to strengthen the Muslims on their Dīn.
Bārakallāhu Fīkum
Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
