Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi rahimahullaah said:
It is reported from Abu Hurairah radiyallaahu anhu-who said-The Messenger of Allah Salallaahu alayhi wasallam said:
” Whoever treads upon a path seeking for knowledge on it, Allah will make the way to Paradise easy for him.” ¹
It is also reported from Abu Hurairah radiyallaahu anhu- who said-The Messenger of Allah Salallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam said:
” Whoever his death reaches him while seeking for knowledge in order to revive Islam, his level between him and that of the prophets in jannah is just the difference of one degree.” ²
Some wise people used to say: would that I knew what he has achieved the one who has not attained knowledge, and would that I knew what he has lost the one who has attained knowledge.”
Among the virtues of knowledge, is the Hadith that was transmitted and recorded in the Sahihayn in the Hadith of Sahl Ibn Sa’d radiyallaahu anhu who said:
“The Messenger of Allah Salallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam said to ‘Ali radiyallaahu anhu that;
” For Allah to guide one man through you is better than for you to have red camels.”³
In addition to the importance of a scholar and his status, it is reported that Ibn Abbas said:
“All the inhabitants of the Heavens and Earth seek forgiveness for the scholar who teaches people virtue even the whale in its water.”⁴
