#260: Ruling on Schools Banning the Niqāb

Is a School Allowed to Ban the Niqāb?
” Assalaamu alaykum. Please iIhave a question. Can a school (Islamic school) ban Niqāb based on the fact that it feels its deceit i.e the children are not sincere about it and don`t use it at home either. They also gave reason like. They don`t feel like student and teachers would treat them more like students without it… They use heavy makeups under it which they are not suppose to as students and at their age… From their investigations, they would go anywhere without their Niqāb but not school… Please I work in this school but I’m not convinced about their reasons pls clarify”

It is not permissible for a Muslim who believes in Allāh and the Last Day to work in such establishments that declare war on any of the Muslim Dresses unless by necessity and need.
What you are advised here is to seek for other schools where you can teach and not to restrict yourself to such a school.
None of the reasons you have mentioned from them makes sense. They are the futile efforts if Iblīs to poison the hearts of men against the use of this excellent symbol of Islām that is an icon and epitome of chastity and discipline.
