Assalāmu Alaykum Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh
Beloved brothers and sisters
We give thanks to Allāh who has spared our lives to this moment in this month of Ramadān
You are welcome to this day’s session of the Halqah
We ask Allāh to make us of the manumitted from the Nār
Āmīn
Alhamdulillāh
We shall continue in our Sharh of the Nasīhah
We stopped at where the Shaykh began quoting the Morroccan Imām Al-Hasan Al-Yūsī – rahimahullāh
Al-Yūsī – rahimahullāh – said
He was mentioning the benefits of being contented with the era in which one finds himself
_”And it will enable him show gratitude to Him, gratefulness to Him, rest of mind, freeness from anxiety and restlessness, purity of heart toward the people of his time and faithfulness to his responsibilities…”_
_”(It will also help him) believe good about its people and have rest of mind with them. He will see goodness in the time and overlook the evils. These and others.”_
This is because once one stops to think evil of the time he lives in, he will see good in the people around hin
But once he considers the era to be filled and immersed in evil, he will lack by so doing the rest of mind and the good impression that makes him consider the goodness in the people around him
Al-Yūsī – rahimahullāh – continued by saying
_”And Allāh indeed blessed the Sahābah with a blessed era. They would recall what had preceded them of era in which layers of evil prevailed, ranging from the worship of idols to the committing of evil.”_
He said
_”They thereby show thanks to Allāh and render gratitude”_
_”This is the way the believer ought to look unto what Allāh ta’ālā has bestowed upon him of Khayr in his time in terms of Dīn and Dunya; and unto what Allāh ta’ālā has saved him from of the past and current evils. That he may thank Allāh over that.”_
Before we continue elucidating its meanings, we want to make a retraction here
In the first class, we mentioned that this writing was made by Shaykh Uthmān Dan Fodio before the Jihād.
This was a mistake.
May Allāh forgive our errors
The book was authored after the establishment of the State and the leadership of the Shaykh has been established.
Āmīn
Shaykh Uthmān Dan Fodio continued by saying
_”Then Al-Hasan Al-Yūsī said
_”And something in relation to this has come from my tongue before of poetry
“We give thanks to Allāh over our time, a good time;_
_Which overshadows the times that preceded it”_
_Else the time of the Prophet – Allah’s blessings and Salutations upon him_
_Of the Companions and the three Generations_
_”Our Dīn is free of Bid’a and Open sins,_
_And we live in the best of times_
_And whosoever Allāh chooses good for_
_then it is of what has preceded or what is about to come”_
This is exactly what is expected of the Muslim
To always render thanks to Allāh and show Him gratitude on whatever bounty bestowed upon him
May Allāh make us of those that render gratitude to Him
Āmīn
Brothers and sisters we must show thanks and gratitude to Allāh
For all He has given to us, and all He has taught us
One of the Ulamā said
_”Had the only thing that man do on earth was the showing of Gratitude to Allāh, he wouldn’t give gratitude its right”_
This is true
It is minutes to Iftār and we shall pause here
Due to the length of the book and the fewness of days left for the month, we shall Inshā Allāh give more time to the Sharh session
We ask Allāh for acceptance and guidance
Lastly, we ask us all to include the Ummah in our du’ā as we break our fasts
Bārakallāhu fīkum
Jazākumullāhu Khayran
Assalāmu Alaykum Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh
