🕌”Nasīhatu Ahli Az-Zamān” (012)

الحمد لله رب العالمين
والصلاة والسلام على المبعوث رحمة للعالمين
وعلى آله وصجبه أجمعين

Assalāmu Alaykum Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh

Which was authored by the Mujāhid Imām and the Amīr of the Believers Shaykh Uthmān Dan Fodio – rahimahullāh

He aimed at taking the most important topic of Taqwah

Taqwah, O People, is that consciousness of Allāh and His Commandments that comes between a Servant and transgression.

And in the Du’ā that is Wārid from the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam – he said;

اللهم أقسم لنا من خشيتك ما تحول بيننا وبين معصيتك

“O Allāh, grant us a share of Your Consciousness and Fear, that which comes as barrier between us and sinning against You.”

We ask Allāh to grant us Taqwah and sound Īmān.

He said;

فأقول وبالله التوفيق

“I say, and with Allāh is Guidance”
فاعلموا يا إخواني أن تقوى الله عز وجل هو الذي وصى به الله الأولين والآخرين.

“Know,O Brothers of Mine that the Taqwah of Allāh ‘azza Wajall is that with which Allāh gave a Wasiyyah to the earlier and the Later generations
قال تعالى (ولقد وصينا الذين أوتوا الكتاب من قبلكم وإياكم أن اتقوا الله)

Allāh -ta’ālā- said;

“And indeed We have Exhorted those who were given the Book before you, and yourselves that you should have Taqwah of Allāh”

وقال تعالى

يا أيها الذين آمنوا اتقوا الله

And He Ta’ālā said;

“O You who believe, fear Allāh
وقال تعالى

(ولتنظر نفس ما قدمت لغد واتقوا الله إن الله خبير بما تعملون)

In the verses the Imām quoted, Allāh exhorts us to remain in continuous Consciousness of His presence over us
In the first verse, Allāh used the word Wasiyyah to qualify the Command to Taqwah

The word Wasiyyah is meant to underscore importance and relevance to the entire lifetime of the one to whom the Wasiyyah was given.

The verse shows that Allāh’s Wasiyyah to the People of the Book and to our Ummah is the Fear of Allāh and Taqwah
The Shaykh said;

وفي شعب الإيمان لأبي محمد عبد الجليل عن أبي سعيد الخضري رضي الله عنه قال: جاء رجل إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وقال:يا نبي الله أوصني. قال: عليك بتقوى الله فإنه جماع كل شيء

“And in the Shu’ub Al-Īmān by Abu Muhammad ‘Abdu Al-Jalīl from Abū Sa’īd Al-Khudriyy – radiyallāhu ‘anhu – who said; a man came to the Prophet – salallāhu alayhi wasallam – and said; O Prophet of Allāh! Give me a Wasiyyah
He said: “Take care of the Taqwah of Allāh for indeed it encompasses everything.”

Indeed the Taqwah of Allāh encompasses everything for indeed if a person fears Allāh and his Taqwah is sound, he would abide by all the Commands of Allāh and yearn to earn His Pleasure.
He would distance from the forbiddances of Allāh and flee away from them
We ask Allāh to grant us the richness of Taqwah and the Purity of Understanding
