The Statement of Imām Al-Hāfidh Ibn Kathīr -rahimahullah- on the Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah

*THE STATEMENT OF IMAAM AL- HAAFIDH IBN KATHIR RAHIMAHULLAH ON THE TEN DAYS OF DHUL-HIJJAH.*

قال ابن كثير رحمه الله:

_*” وقد ورد في حديث أنه أفضل الأيام عند الله وبالجملة، فهذا العشر قد قيل إنه أفضل أيام السنة، كما نطق به الحديث، وفضله كثير على عشر رمضان الأخير، لأن هذا يشرع فيه ما يشرع في ذاك من صلاة وصيام وصدقة وغيره، ويمتاز هذا باختصاصه بأداء فرض الحج فيه. وقيل ذاك أفضل لاشتماله على ليلة القدر التي هي خير من ألف شهر، وتوسط آخرون فقالو: أيام هذا أفضل، وليلى ذاك أفضل، وبهذا يجتمع شمل الأدلة، والله أعلم*._

*Ibn kathir Rahimahullahu said:*

_”It has been narrated in a Hadith that the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah is the best days in the side of Allah and in general, it was said that the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah is the best days of the year, just as the Hadith mentioned, and it has more merits compared to the last ten days of Ramadan, this is because what is legislated in the month of Dhul-Hijjah is also found in the month of Ramadan be it prayer, fasting and charity etc, However the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are made special for the performance of Hajj. And it was said that the last ten days of Ramadan are more superior because Laytul Qadr is found in it which is better than a thousand months. And others have held a middle position which is that the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are the best days, and the last ten nights of Ramadan are the best nights, and with this position, all the evidences are taken into account, and Allah knows best._
