_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:
*ACCEPTING GIFTS FROM RULERS.*
Know verily that, before receiving something from rulers, one must consider its validity in the sharia and one must also check whether one is amongst those that are entitled to those gifts or not.
Amongst the past predecessors, there are those that preferred not to take gifts from rulers at all due to piety. While others amongst them received the gifts in order to give it out for charity.
However, it is beloved in this our era that one should *not* take gifts from them at all due to what it contains of humiliation and inability to make corrections for them where necessary due to what one has received from them.
