_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:
*THE ADĀB OF SECLUSION.*
Know verily that, we have already said that the one who intend to seclude himself should do that mainly in order to safeguard himself from the evil of people and because of his inability to rectify the affairs of the Muslim and in order to busy himself with the remembrance of Allāh, Azzawajal.
Of it, in his khalwa, he should increase in knowledge on what he has before the Khalwa. And he should beware of indulging in unnecessary arguments or discussion.
In seclusion, it doesn’t mean one should stop attending congregation prayers nor any Íbāda that has to be done in congregation. For this act is against the teaching of our beloved Messenger sallallāhu àlayhi wasallam.
Also amongst the ethics of seclusion, one should only do it for the sake of Allāh not in order to win the praise and love of people nor to be called a waliy of Allāh.
Of it, one should always remember death and the meeting of Allāh frequently and the life in the grave.
Lastly, one should always sit with the pious people so that they can assist one towards his Journey to Allāh.
