_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:
*WHAT IS COMPULSORY FOR ONE TO SHUN AWAY FROM.*
Know verily that, it is highly recommended that one should take little of dunya and those things that are of necessity for his existence so that one can prepare towards the last day.
Thus, there is no doubt that one have to seek for his sustenance and those things that will assist him towards his greater goal which is Hereafter. Therefore, it is an act of ignorance for one to say that he will have tawaqqul on Allāh without following the means of attaining his sustenance. For having tawaqqul does not nullify seeking the means of sustenance. Rather, one should follow the Asbāb of sustenance and then have complete reliance on Allāh, The most High.
As for the preparation towards Hereafter, one need knowledge about purification, Salah, and his ībādāt and all the Ahkāmu that has to do with travelling. All these Ahkāmu are fully mentioned and discussed in details in the books of Fiqh.
In addition to the Ahkāmu of travelling, it is imperative for a traveller to know the qiblah and the time of each salah.
