_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:
It was reported that ‘Umar Ibn ‘Abdulazīz Rahimahullāhu said to Abū Hāzim:
advise me.
Abū Hāzim said:
when ever you want to sleep, remember death, then think about what you love to have done of goodness at that time, then hasten to do it now, and also think of what you dislike of bad deeds that you have done at the time, and hasten to desert from it now.
Muhammad Ibn K’ab said to ‘Umar Ibn ‘Abdulazīz:
Ya Amīru Al-Mu’minīn: This dunya is like a market amongst markets, in it people go out with what will harm them and benefit them, many people have been deceived by what we found ourselves in, until death captured them and they went out of it as blameworthy without preparing seriously for their Hereafter, nor were able to provide a fortress for death, and what they gathered were divided amongst those that doesn’t show thanks to them, and they have returned to the one who doesn’t accept any excuse after death. Thus, it is wājib upon us Ya Amīru Al-Mu’minīn to look at their bad deeds and shun away from it and their good deeds in order to copy them in that regard, Fear Allāh, open your doors for people, and make your access to people easy, and assist the oppressed one and punish the oppressor.
Lastly, Whosoever have three things has indeed completed his faith with Allāh Azzawajal: when pleased, he doesn’t support falsehood because of it, and if he is angry, that doesn’t take him out from the truth, if he is powerful, he doesn’t seize what doesn’t belong to him.
