_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:
It is reported from Muhammad Ibn ‘Aliy who said: I was sitting with J’afar Al-Mansur in a gathering together with Ibn Abī Dhí’b, and the wālī of Al-Madīnah then was Al-Hasan Ibn Zaid, then the people of Al-Ghaffarun entered complaining to Al-Masur about something regarding Al-Hasan Ibn Zaid, then Al-Hasan said:
Ya Amīru Al-Mu’minīn, ask Ibn Abī dhi’b regarding them.
Ibn Abī dhi’b said:
I testified that they defamed people’s Honor.
Abu J’afar said: You have heard oh the Ghaffārun.
The Ghaffārun said:
Ya Amīru Al-Mu’minīn, ask him regarding Al-Hasan Ibn Zaid. Then the Amīru Al-Mu’minīn then asked Ibn Abī dhi’b.
Ibn Abī dhi’b said:
I testified that he judges unjustly.
Amīru Al-Mu’minīn said:
You have heard oh you Hasan.
Hasan said: Ya Amīru Al-Mu’minīn ask him regarding yourself.
Then the Amīru Al-Mu’minīn said to Ibn Abī dhi’b: what can you say regarding me?
Ibn Abī dhi’b said: pardon me from answering such question.
Amīru Al-Mu’minīn said: Wallah, you must tell me.
Ibn Abī dhi’b said:
I testified that you took wealth unjustly, and you gave it to the illegible people.
Amīru Al-Mu’minīn said:
Wallah, if not because of me the children of Fāris and Rūm and Addailam and turk would have seized even this your position.
Ibn Abī dhi’b said:
Indeed! Abūbakr and ‘Úmar was once khulafah and they took wealth, right and divided it equally amongst people and they also seized the territory of Fāris and Rūm.
Amīru Al-Mu’minīn then said:
If not because I know that you are a truthful person, I will have kill you.
Ibn Abī dhi’b said:
Wallah, Ya Amīru Al-Mu’minīn, I am sincere and truthful to you than your son Al-Mahdī.
