Plots of Shaytaan against Man: The Love of Beautifying and Decorating Household with Expensive Furniture

_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:

Amongst the plots of shaitan against man are; the love of beautifying and decorating household with expensive furniture’s and wearing expensive cloth more than what is permissible and expected in the sharia, thus, such a person will spend all his resources to attain such a goal thereby wasting his life on unnecessary matters of the dunya and he will not have time to plan for the life to come.

And of it, is eating food more than what is recommended in the sharia, for verily, such act, strengthen the desires and one will not be able to carryout ibadāt the way it is expected.

And of it, is greedy for people and excessive love for them, for whosoever is greedy for a person, he will certainly pass the limit in praising such a person and he will always incline towards him in any act even it is a forbidden act, and he will not be able to command him for good and forbid him from evil.

And amongst the plots of shaitan, is hastiness in things and lack of sabat and patient in it, and that even become more disastrous and dangerous if it is in terms of the affairs of the religion. In this regard, our beloved Messenger sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam was reported to have said:

_التأني من الله،و العجلة من الشيطان._

_Calmness is from Allāh, and haste is from shaitan._

Transmitted and recorded by Imām Al-Baihaqi in ‘Assunanu Al-Kubrā'(10/104). Shaykh Al-Albāni declared it as Hasan in ‘Assahīhah’#1795.
