Calamities of the Tongue 02

📬 DAILY POST#415

_Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullāh-_
Said:

*2.* Indulging in Haram things.

This has to do with spreading and speaking about things that are Haram in a gathering like zina, beer, gambling, etc. For indulging in those statement instead of remembering Allāh Ta’āla can lead one to Hell.

In this context, our beloved Messenger sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam was reported to have said in a hadith reported by Abū Hurairah radiyallāhu anhu;

.
_”A slave of Allah may utter a word without thinking whether it is right or wrong, he may slip down in the Fire due to it as far away a distance equal to that between the east.”_

Transmitted and recorded by Imām Al-Bukhārī in his ‘Sahih’#6477.

And the closest act to this, is arguing and flattering unnecessarily.

Therefore, it is incumbent on one to make inkār on false statement, debunk the wrong thing in it and explain what is right. And one should not keep quite nor overlook it especially in what has to do with the affairs of the religion except if one is not capable.

But in the case of the matters of the dunya, one doesn’t need to waste his time for argument. For by so doing, one is definitely wasting part of his life on issues that are worthless and less important.

As for the cure of arguing unnecessarily on the matters of the deen, is for one to beware of arrogance and one should be ready to accept correction.

In addition, one should also know that, the Messenger sallallāhu àlayhi wasallam Has warned against dispute and unnecessary argument.

In this regard, the Messenger sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam said in a hadith reported by our beloved mother, Ā’ishah radiyallāhu anha;

_”The most hated person in the sight of Allah, is the most quarrelsome person.”_

Transmitted and recorded by Imām Al-Bukhārī in his ‘Sahih’#7188.

This has to do with arguing on falsehood or arguing without knowledge, but for the one whose his right is trembled on, in this case, it is preferred and beloved that he should block dispute as best as possible because it brings about hatred, anger, envy and it may even touch his honor.
