_Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullāh-_
Said:
*CAUTIOUS FROM BEING ANGRY*
Know verily – may the blessing of Allāh be upon you – that, anger is a flame of fire. And during anger, there is a vein in man which draw him closer to shaitan.
Shaitan Al-lai’n said:
خَلَقْتَنِي مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِن طين
_You created me from fire while you created him from dust._
*Suratu Al-Aa’rāf, verse 12.*
The nature of dust is tranquility and sakinah while the nature of fire is disorderly and lack of sakīnah.
Anger leads to envy and hatred and the beloved prophet sallallāhu àlayhi wasallam has warned severely against anger.
In this context, the Messenger sallallāhu àlayhi wasallam said:
_لاتغضب. فردد عليه مرار، قال : لا تغضب._
Do not get angry. He repeated it to the man and said again: Do not get angry.
Transmitted by Imām Al-Bukhārī#6116.
In another Hadith, in the sahīhayn from Abu Hurairah radiyallāhu anhu who said: The messenger of Allāh sallallāhu àlayhi wasallam said:
_The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one who controls himself while in anger._
Transmitted by Imām Al-Bukhārī in his ‘Sahih’#6114 and Imām Muslim in his ‘Sahih’#2709.
I’krimah said regarding the tafsir of this verse:
_وسيدا وحصورا._
_Honorable(leader) and chaste._
*Suratu Al-i’mrān, verse 39.*
The Honorable person is the one who controls himself while in anger, and he is not overcome by anger.
It was reported that zal-qarnayn met an Angel and he said to the Angel: Teach me a knowledge that will increase my Iman and yaqīn, the angel then said:
_Do not get angry, for verily, shaitan used to overcome the son of Ādam while in anger, thus, control your anger. And beware of hastiness, for when you are in haste, you may miss your share, be someone that is gentle, soft to the closed and far relatives, do not be an arrogant nor a rude person._
