_Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullāh-_
Said:
Know verily – may the blessings of Allah be upon you – that, envy is one of the greatest diseases of heart due to what it causes to it. And there is no way of curing it except through beneficial knowledge and putting the knowledge into practice.
And also, envy affects one’s deen and dunya, however, it doesn’t affect the deen and the dunya of the one that is been envied. Rather, it benefits him, for the blessings of Allah upon him will not terminate due to envy.
In addition, envy causes pains to the heart and there is no any tangible benefit for the one engaging in it. Rather, there is a severe punishment on the day of resurrection for the one who persisted on it without repenting.
And when we said that the one that is been envied is not affected by it either in his deen or dunya, rather, such a person benefits from it, for what Has been ordained for him amongst His blessings will always exist till the time stipulated by Allah, and there is no punishment on him on the Hereafter, for he has no sin on him.
Rather, he benefits, for he is been oppressed from the one that envies him, especially if the envy is materialized into action and statement.
