_Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh-_
Said:
Know verily that, covetousness over what is in the hand of others is highly disliked and condemned for Allāh is the Giver and sustainer. He makes provision for whom He pleases or straitens and there is no Giver except Him.
Therefore, whoever seeks what is in the hand of others will not seize from humiliation, disgrace and failure. Though, one may get to his goal through such a despicable means, but one will be seen as an irresponsible person.
Hence, why should one leave the provisions that are with One’s creator which are certain and hasten for that in the hands of the creation which are full of illusion, deception and uncertainty?
And of the greatest cure for showoff, is for one to always hide one’s good acts and to fasten to block any means which might lead to showoff, for there is no cure for showoff like hiding one’s good acts. Though, at the beginning of the struggle, one may find it difficult and painful to the heart, but with patient and endurance one will surely scale through.
Thus, it is upon one to struggle hard and be determined upon the journey but to Allāh is the *Tawfīq and Sadad.*
Allāhu A’alam! Bārakallāhu fīkum!
