_Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh-_
Said:
*PRIDE AND SELF ESTEEM.*
Allāh Ta’āla says:
_I will turn away from My Āyāt those who are unjustly proud in the earth…_
Suratu Al-A’arāf, verse 146.
And He says:
_Surely, He does not love the proud ones._
Suratu An-Nahl, verse 23.
In a Sahih Hadith, Transmitted by Imām Muslim(#91) that the Rasūl Sallallāhu a’layhi wasallam said:
_”He shall not enter Jannah he who has in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of arrogance.”_
And in the Sahīhayn, the Messenger salallāhu ālayhi wasallam also said:
_”There was a dispute between the Hell and the Jannah and the Hell said: The tyrant and the proud would find abode in me. And the Paradise said: The meek and the humble would find their abode in me. Thereupon Allah Ta’āla said(addressing the Hell): You are the means of My punishment by which I punish those of My servants whom I wish. And addressing (the Paradise) He said: You are My Mercy by means of which I shall show mercy to those whom I wish, but each one of you would be full.”_
The Messenger salallāhu ālayhi wasallam also said:
_”The arrogant will be gathered on the Day of Qiyāmah resembling tiny particles in the image of men. They will be covered with humiliation everywhere, they will be dragged into a prison in Hell called Bulas, submerged in the Fire of Fires, drinking the drippings of the people of the Fire, filled with derangement.”_
Transmitted by Imām At-Tirmidhi in His “Sunan” #2492. Shaykh Al Albāni Rahimahullāhu declared it as Hasan.
Sufyān Ibn ‘Uyaynah Rahimahullāhu said:
_Whosoever sinned out of desires, hopefully, the gate of repentance shall be opened for such person, for Ādam ālayhissalam disobeyed out of desires, thus, he was forgiven. But if the sin was out of pride, then, one should fear for such a person a curse, for Iblīs disobeyed out of pride, therefore, he was cursed._
In addition, in the Sahīhayn, the Messenger salallāhu ālayhi wasallam was reported to have said:
_”Allah will not look upon him who drags his garment out of pride.”_
Transmitted by Imām Al-Bukhārī in His “Sahih” #5784 and Imām Muslim in His “Sahih”#2085.
