_Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh-_
Said:
*THE CURES FOR ARROGANCE.*
Know verily – may the blessings of Allāh Ta’āla be upon you – that, arrogance is amongst the destructive vices, and curing it is an obligation that’s mandatory upon an individual.
Therefore, in order to attain its treatment, there are two ways:
*1).* Uprooting it completely from its main source. Firstly, one should realise that, one is a weak, worthless person and one should know the greatness of Allāh Ta’āla and His Mightiness. By so doing, the weakness, lowliness and powerlessness of one becomes apparent.
Also, one should look deeply at one’s source of creation which is the clay. This clay turned to a small seed, then to a clot which later becomes a lump of a flesh. The lump of the flesh is then covered with bones. Then one becomes a thing worth of mentioning.
However, before that, one was just a solid structure which cannot hear, see, feel, nor move an inch. One begins as nothing of existence to a living being, a weak person to a strong one, and as a poor person before richness.
Verily, Allāh Ta’āla in His infinite mercy Has mentioned this in the glorious Qur’an where He says:
_مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقَهُ_
_Of what thing did He create him?_
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُ فَقَدَّرَهُ
_Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a certain measure._
_ثُمَّ السَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُ_
_Then as for the way, He has made it easy for him._
*Suratu ‘Abasa, verse 18, 19 and 20.*
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 2:
_…فَجَعَلْنَاهُ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا._
_So We have made him hearing, seeing._
*Suratu Al-IhSān, verse 2.*
Allāh Gave man life after his death, Beautifies his structure, and Sent him to dunya. He then nurtures, clothes, guides and strengthens him so that he can show gratitude to Him.
Thus, this is the starting point of the journey of man on earth, then why should he be arrogant and proud of himself whereas before, he was a thing not worth mentioning?
