_Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh-_
Said:
And amongst self amazement, is for one to talk openly and boastfully on one’s wrong view of an issue. This is because is like one considers such wrong opinion as good.
In this type of scenario, Allāh, the most Merciful says:
_”أَفَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُ سُوءُ عَمَلِهِ فَرَآهُ حَسَنًا..”_
_What! is he whose evil deed is made Fair seeming to him so much so that he considers it good?_
*Suratu Fātir, Verse 8.*
For this reason, it is compulsory for such bad character to be censored and treated. However, one should realise that, the determination needed for the treatment of this vice is severe compared to other vices.
And this is because, it is very hard and difficult for the one who is mesmerized with his opinion to accept the advice of others or see to other people’s opinions, then how dare would he desist from that which which he upholds?!
In summary, its treatment is for one to believe that one’s opinion is not completely error free and it is subjected to mistakes except that which is clearly mentioned in the Qur’an and sunnah.
And one can never attain this level of understanding except by sitting and moving closer to the people who are deep rooted in knowledge by learning the Qur’an and Sunnah from them.
However, it is beloved and preferred for the one who is not deep rooted in knowledge to desist himself from plunging into that which holds differences of opinions from the ulama of the mazāhib.
Rather, he should stick to that which are plain and general without any ikhtilāf. Of it, is for one to have firm believe that Allāh subhānahu wataā’la Has no partner and nothing like a likeness of Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
And also, one should believe that His Messenger sallallāhu a’layhi wasallam is trustworthy in his message and one should believe in all what was revealed in the Holy Qur’an without any doubt. And one should devote one’s time in achieving taqwah and obedience.
However, if one dives much into that which has differences of opinion in the mazāhib without firstly being rooted in knowledge and seeks that which one has no basic knowledge to comprehend it fully, surely, by so doing, one shall be destroyed and ruined.
Allāhu A’alam! Bārakallāhu fīkum!
