_Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh-_
Said:
And there are many Ahādīth encouraging one to seek repentance, and the ‘Ulama have unanimously agreed on the obligation of repentance; this is because sins are destructive and they distance a servant from Allāh. Thus, it is wājib for one to flee from them without any delay.
Moreover, it is wājib for one to always seek repentance from Allāh, for no one is ever free from committing sins, either by organs, heart, or by the whispers of shaitān, or by heedlessness or negligence of seeking knowledge about the attributes of Allāh Ta’āla. All these are deficiencies in themselves, and no one is totally free from them, it’s just that, people are of different levels regarding those imperfections.
In this context, The Messenger salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam said:
_My heart may be covered, I therefore ask the forgiveness of Allāh each day and night seventy times._

And for this, Allāh Ta’āla Has honored the Messenger salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam where He says:
_لِّيَغْفِرَ لَكَ اللَّهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِن ذَنبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ…_
_That Allah may forgive you your past faults and those to follow.._
Sūratu Al-Fat’h, Verse 2.
In a Hadīth, the Messenger salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam was reported to have said:
_ﺇﻥ ﺍﻟﻠَّﻪ ﻋَﺰَّ ﻭَﺟَﻞَّ ﻳﻘﺒﻞ ﺗﻮﺑﺔ ﺍﻟﻌﺒﺪ ﻣﺎ ﻟﻢ ﻳﻐﺮﻏﺮ_
_Verily, Allāh Azzawajal accepts the repentance of a servant as long as he is not in death rattle._

Allāhu A’alam! Bārakallāhu fīkum!
