Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh-
Said:
As for admonition, it is for one to carefully consider all what we mentioned of various blessings in the “book of Gratitude, if one recognises the blessings of Allah Ta’āla upon His servants in this dunya, and the wonders of His wisdom in the creation of man, and that His Mercy is not only restricted to the masālih of His servants in this dunya, and Allah wants His servants to increase in status, thus, He never seeks to perish them. For He is Merciful to them in this dunya and the Hereafter.
As for the verses which shows the Mercy of Allah, Allah says:
قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
Say: O my servants! who have acted extravagantly against their own souls, do not despair of the mercy of Allah; surely Allah forgives the faults altogether; surely He is the Forgiving the Merciful.
Sūratu Az-zumar, Verse 53.
And Allah Ta’āla says:
تَكَادُ السَّمَاوَاتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِن فَوْقِهِنَّ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ أَلَا إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
The heavens may almost rend asunder from above them and the angels sing the praise of their Lord and ask forgiveness for those on earth; surely Allah is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
Sūratu Ash-shūra, Verse 5.
Allah Ta’āla mentioned that He Has prepared Hell For His enemy that’s the disbelievers, and He frightens His awliyah with it, He says:
لَهُم مِّن فَوْقِهِمْ ظُلَلٌ مِّنَ النَّارِ وَمِن تَحْتِهِمْ ظُلَلٌ ذَٰلِكَ يُخَوِّفُ اللَّهُ بِهِ عِبَادَهُ يَا عِبَادِ فَاتَّقُونِ
They shall have coverings of fire above them and coverings beneath them; with that Allah makes His servants to fear, O My servants! so be careful of (your duty to) Me.
Sūratu Az-zumar, verse 16.
And He also says:
وَاتَّقُوا النَّارَ الَّتِي أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَافِرِينَ.
And guard yourselves against the fire which has been prepared for the unbelievers.
Sūratu Al-‘Imrān, Verse 131.
And also says:
فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ (١٤)لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى(١٥) الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ(١٦).
Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: (14).None shall enter it except the loser,(15) Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back.(16).
Sūratu Al-Lail, Verse 14-16.
Allāhu A’alam! Bārakallāhu fīkum!
