Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh-
Said:
6). Wealth.
Know that, wealth is a basic necessity in life generally.
Thus, a Zāhid should satisfy himself with what fulfills his needs in a given time.
Some of the pious salaf were traders in order to attain contentment.
In this context, it was reported that Hammād Ibn Salmah used to close down his shop after earning two Dirhams.
Saī’d Ibn Al-Musayyib used to sell oil and left about four hundreds dīnar for his family, when he was asked about that, he responded by saying:
I did that in order to safeguard my honour and my Dīn.
