Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi-rahimahullāh-
Said:

You should also control your seven organs; the eyes, ears, tongue, stomach, genitals, hands and legs so that they can submit completed to your soul on your journey of the Hereafter.

As for your eyes, then you should lower your gaze and safeguard it from Haram and things that are not necessary to be seen. Rather, you should only utilize it in things that are praiseworthy be it recitation of the glorious Quran, the Hadīth of the Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam and sīrah of the pious salaf.

Hence, this method should be applied to all other organs according to their usage and what they are created for.

As for your stomach, then you should avoid consuming that which are Haram and ambiguous, and you should stick yourself to that which are necessary.

Also, you should make it incumbent on yourself to punish your soul by depriving it from desires whenever it goes against the setup principles. Likewise, this methodology, should be applied to the other organs.

After that, you should accustom your organs to some routines of ibādat be it fasting, night prayers, and the likes.

Such routines should be followed and practised everyday till the Soul gets used to them even though it is hard for a day to pass without a new incident coming up especially that which has to do with Dunya matters be it leadership or trade.

Hence, you should hold firm to your principles in all matters and never dwindle and be ready to submit yourself to the truth no matter what it deserves.

Furthermore, always checkmate yourself and your footsteps generally.

In this regard, ‘Umar Radiyallāhu anhu said:

Account your deeds before you are accounted for them, measure your acts before they are measured against you, and get set for the Day of Resurrection” then he recited:

يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ

On that day you shall be exposed to view– no secret of yours shall remain hidden.
