Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi-rahimahullāh-
Said:
Oh beloved ones, know, may the blessings of Allāh Ta’āla be upon you that, the pain of shunning away from desires is not to be compared with the torture in the hellfire, so be patient and protect yourself from unlawful desires.
For the one who could not bear the pain of patience in this dunya, how can he/she bear the torture in the Hereafter?
It is possible that what block you from the path of Allāh is your love for reputation and influence. Know, after sixty years or some years to come, you and the people you spent your whole life influencing may not be in this life.
Wouldn’t you then give up something empheral for something permanent?
Do you substitute your closeness to Allāh for keeping in the company of the foolish ones?
Remember, you have lost a lot in the past years, what remains of life are little. Thus, utilize these short days for work in order to attain eternal happiness in the Hereafter.
In addition, you shall be questioned about your deeds. Therefore, prepare your answers for the test.
Lastly, leave this Dunya like the free men rather than those compelled to leave. For with each day and night, one comes to an end even if one never moved an inch. Take heed of this Nasīha. You should lament your state. Shed tears, for it is a sign of Mercy.
Allāhu A’alām.
Bārakallāhu fīkum.
Jazākumullahu Khayran.
