Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi-rahimahullāh-
Said:

States of the Dead from the Time the Trumpet is sounded Till the time it’s either admitted into Jannah or Hell.

Know verily, oh beloved ones, we have explained the agonies of the grave. However, what’s greater than that is the sounding of the trumpet, resurrection, Hisāb, the scales and the Sirāt. You must have a firm believe in them and reflect over them.

Though, majority of the people have no firm believe in the Hereafter and they are in doubt as to the meeting with their Lord.

Whereas, the first creation of man is more wonderful than his resurrection. How can one deny the Omnipotence of the Almighty and His wisdom in this regard!

Therefore, if your imān is weak, then you should strengthen it by pondering over the first creation of man. And if your Imān is strong, you should install fear into your heart for such worries. You should frequently ponder over them and push yourself to do good deeds.

The first sound heard by the dead is that of isrāfil when he blows the Trumpet. Thus, picture yourself being resurrected and responding to the sound.

Allah Ta’āla says:

وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُم مِّنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَنسِلُونَ

And the trumpet shall be blown, when behold from their graves they shall hasten on to their Lord.

Sūratu Yasin, Verse 51.

It is reported from Abī Sa’īd Al-Khudrī who said: the Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam said:

How can I be delighted since the angel entrusted with sounding the Trumpet has prepared himself bending his forehead and listening with his ears; waiting for the command to blow the Trumpet! Muslims wondered, What should we say, O Messenger of Allāh? He said, You should say: Allāh is sufficient for us and He is the best Disposer of affairs.

Transmitted by Imām At-tirmidhī and the Hadīth is Hasan.

Also, think how people shall be resurrected on the Day of Qiyāmah, driven naked to the land of gathering which is plain and smooth level and no where to hide.

In the Sahīhayn, The Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam said:

The people will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection on reddish white land like a pure loaf of bread ( made of pure fine flour).

Transmitted by Imām Al-Bukhārī#6521 and Imām Muslim#2790.

Then, you should reflect the crowds of people and nearness of the sun to their heads, and their sweat and great worries in their heart.

In a Hadīth, the Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam said:

People will be overwhelmed with sweat according to their deeds.

Allāhu A’alām.
Bārakallāhu fīkum.
Jazākumullahu Khayran.

8th Sha’bān, 1441H.
