Al-Ghazali – Rahimahullāhu
said:
The Heart.
Oh beloved son, direct efforts on uplifting your determination and censor your heart from its vices and humble yourself to Allāh Ta’āla and remember that, your real home is the grave.
the dead ones are longing to meet you. Therefore, never meet them without proper preparation which is the Taqwah.
Then reflect on which side you want to belong? If you want to be amongst those who have purified their heart, censored their characters, practised good deeds apparently and secretly, then you shall hear a voice saying:
ارْجِعِي إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً
Return to your Lord, well-pleased (with him), well-pleasing (Him),
Sūratu Al-Fajr, Verse 28.
However, if you chosed to be amongst the lowly ones -we seek refuge in Allāh from that – those who are like animals due to their evil deeds, then, never feel secured of the punishment of Allāh Ta’āla on the Day of Resurrection.
Allah says:
…أُولَٰئِكَ كَالْأَنْعَامِ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْغَافِلُونَ.
…they are as cattle, nay, they are in worse errors; these are the heedless ones.
Sūratu Al-A’arāf, Verse 179.
It was reported that Al-Hasan Al-basarī Rahimahullāhu Ta’āla was given a cup of cold water to drink. On grasping the cup, he fell down in a swoon; then when he recovered, It was said to him:
What’s the matter oh Abā Sa’īd? He replied: I remembered when the inmates of the fire shall call out to the dwellers of the garden, saying: Pour on us some water or of that which Allah has given you.
Allāhu A’alām.
Bārakallāhu fīkum.
Jazākumullahu Khayran.
4th Ramadān, 1441H.
