Imām Abūl ‘Abbās Ahmad bn ‘Abdul-Halīm bn Taymiyah – Rahimahullāhu
said:
(7) وجميع آيات الصفات أمرها.
حقا كما نقل الطراز الأول
And I testify to all verses ( that talk about the attributes of Allāh.
The way it was believed by the best generation (i.e the first generation).
SHAR’H.
Know that, believing in the attributes and Names of Allāh Ta’āla without metaphoric interpretation is of the characteristics of the pious salaf.
However, amongst the misguided sects, are those who deny the Names and the attributes of Allāh Ta’āla and they are refer to as Jahmiyyah sects. Amongst them are those who only testify to the Names of Allāh and deny All His attributes and they are called Al-Mu’tazilah sects. While some believe in the Names of Allāh Ta’āla and testify only to seven of the attributes of Allāh Ta’āla and deny all the rest, these are called the Ash-a’riyyah sects.
Hence, one needs to follow the path of the salaf without metaphoric interpretation. The salaf are the first generation be it the companions, the Tābi’īn and those who follow their course. Also know that, the Salaf serve as adornment to this Ummah the way stars serve as decoration to the sky.
Thus, why should you derail from their path?
Allāhu A’alām.
