Assalamu Alaykum Warahmatullah Wabarakaatuh.

Good morning to everyone in this blessed room. We ask Allah to grant us Tawfiq and Sadaad in all we do and in our sojourn in this temporal world. Amin.
Barakallahu fikum.

You are welcome to this mornings session of the Halqah. We shall insha Allah
Continue with our Commentary on the Book Safwatu Az-Zubad of the Polymath and Shaafi’i Imaam Ibn Raslaan rahimahullah.

We paused at where he said:

“He therefore fears and hopes (for His Nearness) and listens attentively

to that which He commanded and forbade”

Then he said, rahimahullah:

“That anything He commands him to do he executes it

And anything He forbids him he avoids”

We say: and this is Taqwah.

It is like Ibn ‘Aashir said in the Murshid:

“And what sums up Taqwah is avoiding and complying (with the Commands of Allah) in the apparent and in solitude, that is how it is attained”

Ali bn Abi Taalib radiyallahu anhu said:

“At-Taqwah is to fear the Jalil (Allah), to implement the Revealed Commands, to be satisfied with little and to prepare for the Day of Return”

That is what Taqwa is. May Allah make us among the People of Taqwah.

Then he said rahimahullah :

“Then he becomes a Beloved of the Creator of Man and He becomes for him his hearing, his holding and his seeing

And he becomes a Wali of Allah who when he asks is granted and increases for him in that which he loves”

His reference here is to the Hadith that was recorded by Imam Al-Bukhari from Abu Hurayrah radiyallahu anhu that the Rasul salallahu alayhi wasallam said

“Allah said, ‘I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper (Wali) of Mine. And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have made obligatory upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks My protection (Refuge), I will protect him; (i.e. give him My Refuge).”

The more a person observes the limits of Allah, the closer he gets to Him. These are the Awliyaa of Allah. That’s why Allah described His Awliyaa in the Quran by saying :

“Indeed the Awliyaa of Allah have nothing to fear nor do they grieve. They are the ones that have Imaan and fear Allah”

Ibn Hajar said :
Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani rahimahullah said while describing the Wali:

“He is the Knower of Allah, who is consistent in His Obedience and singles Him out in his Ibaadah”

What is meant by Allah becoming ‘his sense of hearing with which he hears, his sense of sight with which he sees and his hand with which he grips’ is that Allah protects his limbs from transgressing His Limits.

Allah rewards his actions by alleviating him to the darajah of Ihsaan in which he does not do anything that does not align with the instructions of Allah. He hears only what pleases Allah, sees only what pleases Allah, hold unto that only which Allah is pleased with him holding.

O People! This station is attained only by persistent rendering of worship to Allah first by never missing out in any of His Commands and never getting involved in any of His forbiddances. Then by drawing close to Him by virtue or the Nawaafil. And from Allah all help is sought.

We shall pause here for the week.

May Allah make us of the Pious Muttaqun who are steadfast upon His Din, and among His Awliyaa. Amin.

Barakallahu fikum
Jazakumullahu Khayran

Assalamu Alaykum Warahmatullah Wabarakaatuh
