Assalamu Alaykum Warahmatullah Wabarakaatuh.
Good morning to everyone in this blessed room.
May Allah illumine my heart and yours and grant us Istiqaamah and Sadaad amin.
You are welcome to this mornings session of the Halqah where we shall insha Allah continue our Commentary on the Book Safwatu Az-Zubad of the Polymath Imaam Ibn Raslaan rahimahullah.
We stopped at where the Shaykh said:
فصار محبوباً لخالق البشر … له به سمع وبطش وبصر
وكان لله ولياً، إن طلب … أعطاه، ثم زاده مما أحب
“Then he becomes a Beloved of the Creator of Man and He becomes for him his hearing, his holding and his seeing
And he becomes a Wali of Allah who when he asks is granted and increases for him in that which he loves”.
And we explained it’s meaning.
Alhamdulillah.
So the Imaam after mentioning the one who seeks Allah and works towards attaining His Pleasure goes after that he make reference to those who are on the opposing lane
He said:
“And the one with weak determination does not care…
His ignorance supercedes ignorance like an ignoramus”
He has enslaved himself to the lowly things of this world and cares not about the distance of himself to Allah. He is weak in determination and has imprisoned his soul by the whims and appetites of his soul. He cares not about his deeds, do they take him closer to Allah or further away from him.
The lowly one is the one who has entrapped himself in the preoccupations of this Dunya and has limited himself to its temporal tastes and pleasures. And even when he wants to swim above these lowly pleasures of his, he is incapable of doing that. This is the real slavery and this is the one who is lowly and incapable of esteem. This is ignorance, it is the first stage to destruction, ignorance of the true position of the soul and ignorance of Allah that makes one take the rules of Allah for granted and the Injunctions of the Shariah for a ride.
Then he said, rahimahullah
“Thus presented before you for your choice is Rectitude and Destruction
Or Wrath or closeness or distance (from Allah) ”
This is because in reality Allah has given us a choice, to either be of His Servants who are high on their will power and determination and who refuse to be influenced by the whispers of Iblis. Or to be of the lowly ones who listen only to their appetites and desires and who work day and night to fall deeper into their caprices. Can’t you see that Allah said:
وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ
“And We have shown him the Two Ways”
Ibn Kathir rahimahullah mentioned in his Tafsir from Abdullah bn Mas’ud that these two Paths refer to the Path of Rectitude and the Path of Evil. So Allah has shown us both and taken us to the Junction where to choose of our own volition and choice by making it clear to us the consequences of both.
He also said:
“Verily, We have created man from Nutfah Amshaj, in order to try him: so We made him hearer and seer. Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful.”
May Allah count us among the Grateful, amin.
And in some Hadith, the Rasul salallahu alayhi wasallam said …as part of what he narrated on behalf of Allah that Allah said:
يا عبادي إنما هي أعمالكم أحصيها لكم، ثم أوفيكم إياها، فمن وجد خيراً فليحمد الله، ومن وجد غير ذلك فلا يلومن إلا نفسه
“O My Servants, it is indeed your own deeds that I record and account for you then I recompense you in its accordance. Thus whosoever sees good, then let him Thank Allah and whosoever sees other than that then let him blame no one but himself”
This Hadith was recorded by Imam Muslim from Abu Dharr radiyallahu anhu.
And in Suratu Al-An’am Allah said:
قد جاءكم بصائر من ربكم فمن أبصر فلنفسه ومن عمي فعليها
“Indeed the Proofs have come to you from your Lord. Whosoever sees that and takes heed thereby then he does that for the benefit of his own soul and whosoever turns a blind eye harms none but himself”
May Allah grant us Tawfiq and Sadaad, amin.
Barakallahu fikum
We shall pause here for the week
