Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-
Said:
Awrād (Constant Supplication and ʿIbādat) and Its Virtues.
Know verily that, whenever one have the consciousness of Allah in his heart and believed in his promise, and believed that the dunya is a temporary life, therefore, it becomes waajib for one to utilize his time properly and hasten for the everlasting life which is the Hereafter.
However, for one to be able to maximize his time, he need to divide his time for different ibaadat from morning to night. For if the soul is only constraints on a particular ibadah, it becomes tired or bored.
In this regard, Allah says;
“واذكر اسم ربك بكرة وأصيلا” [الإنسان:٢٥]
Meaning:
“And glorify the name of your Lord morning and evening.”Suratu Al-Insan, Verse 25.
Allah also says;
” ومن الليل فاسجد له وسبحه ليلا طويلا”[الإنسان:٢٦]
Meaning:
And during part of the night adore Him, and give glory to Him a long part of the night.” Suratu Al-Insan, Verse 26.
From these verses, it is well established that one is encouraged to divide and utilize his time from morning to night for every ibadah and awrad.
In addition to this, Allah says;
” وهو الذي جعل اليل والنهار خلفة لمن أراد أن يذكر أراد شكورا”[الفرقان:٦٢]
Meaning:
“And He it is Who made the night and the day to follow each other for him who desires to mindful or desires to be thankful.”
Suratu Al-Furqan, Verse 62.
This shows that, night and day follows each in order for one use one of it (i.e either day or night) to catch up what he has missed in one of them.
Allaahu A’alam! Baarakallaahu feekum!
