Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-
Said:
Awrad of the Night.
The first wird of the night.
This starts by the set of the sun til the time of Al-I’sha prayer. After the sun set, one is recommended to pray Magrib prayer immediately and busy oneself with the virtues that is between Magrib and I’sha prayer.
In this regard, it is reported from Anas radiyallaahu anhu Commenting on the glorious Qur’anic verse that says;
“تتجافى جنوبهم عن المضاجع يدعون ربهم خوفا وطمعا ومما رزقناهم ينفقون” (السجدة:١٦)
Meaning:
“There limbs do forsake their beds of sleep, the while they call on their Lord, in fear and Hope: and they spend in charity out of the sustenance which we have bestowed on them.” Suratu As-Sajadah, verse 16.
Anas radiyallaahu anhu said: ” This Qur’anic verse was revealed regarding the companion of the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu alayhi wasallam who used to utilize their time between Magrib and I’sha prayers to offer a lot of nawafil(supererogatory prayers.”
The second wird of the night.
This wird starts from the disappearance of the red twilight til the time of one’s sleep. In this time, one Is beloved to pray between this time as much as he can offer. And one is recommended to recite Suratu As-Sajadah and Suratu Al-Mulk in his prayers, for the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu alayhi wasallam does not sleep except after He Has recited both surah¹.
Allaahu A’alam! Baarakallaahu feekum!
