Imām Ibn Qudāmah -rahimahullāh- said:
And then, this chewed food cannot get to the belly through the hands. For this reason, Allāh Ta’āla created the pharynx and the larynx, and the pharynx was made of valves in order to enable the food to pass easily.
When the food has gotten to the belly be it bread, fruits and so forth, these food cannot turn to flesh, bones, and blood in these format without undergoing some processes
Hence, Allāh Has placed the belly as though a pot where the food is thoroughly managed. The gate of the belly is completely closed and some heat is generated which is needed by four major organs in order to handle the process. These organs are liver , the spleen, the peritoneum and the valves.
The spleen, peritoneum and valves help in turning the food into a liquid form which is then absorbed by the veins. Then from there it moves to the liver where it is properly sanitized.
Then it spreads out through the whole body in order to be utilized and the waste product are excreted as faeces.
Allāhu A’alam! Bārakallāhu fīkum!
