Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisi-rahimahullāh-
Said:
Censorship.
Know verily, may the blessings of Allāh Ta’āla be upon you that, after sticking to the above norms, then you are encouraged to censor yourselves.
In a Hadīth, the Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam was asked regarding Ihsān, He said:
أن تعبد الله كأنك تراه، فإن لم تكن تراه فإنه يراك
To worship Allāh as if you see Him, for if you cannot see Him, you must consider that He is looking at you.

Beloved ones, hasten to censor your activities before embarking on them. After that, you should ask yourselves as to whether the deeds are mainly for the sake of Allāh Ta’āla, if they are solely for the sake of Allāh, hasten to practise them and never delay in the least. Otherwise, shun away from them and never go back to them.
In this regard, Al-Hasan Rahimahullāhu said:
May Allāh bless a man who always checkmates his deeds, if they are for the sake of Allāh Ta’āla, he fulfills them. Otherwise, he shuns away from them.
Therefore, you should be sincere in your goals and never relent.
As for your shortcomings, then you should repent, regret doing them, and give them up instantly.
As for censoring yourselves regarding things which are permissible, then you should stick to good manners and gratitude upon the blessings and be patient when you are tested with a tribulation.
Wahb Bn Munabbih said:
A sensible person shouldn’t be heedless of four hours. He seclude himself in the first hour and ponder on the signs of Allāh, then he should censor himself in the second hour. Then, he should mingle with his brothers so as to be informed of his errors in the third hour. Lastly, in the fourth hour, he should shun away from desires and stick to the Halal.
