Ya Amīru Al-Mu’minīn, it has come in the tafsir of this verse by your grandfather (Ibn ‘Abbas radiyallāhu anhumā)
“يا داود إنا جعلناك خليفة في الأرض فاحكم بين الناس بالحق ولا تتبع الهوى”
Ya Dāwud! Verily, we have made you a khalīfah in the land, thus, judge between people with justice and do not follow desires”,
*SURATU SĀD VERSE, 26.*
Ibn ‘Abbas radiyallāhu anhu said: if two disputants ask you to judge between them, and your heart inclined to one of them, do not wish that the person your heart inclined to overcome the other. If not, you will be stripped of prophethood, and you would not become my khalīfah thereby, Ya Dawūd: I have placed my Messengers to my servants as Shepherds like that of the camels due to their knowledge of protection, gentleness of politics.
Ya Amīru Al-Mu’minīn, you have been tried with an affairs if it were to be offered to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, they will have surely refuse to bear it and they will fear from it.
