_Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi -rahimahullaah-_
Said:
Muhammad Ibn Wāsi’ rahimahullāhu visited Bilāl Ibn Abī Burdah on a very hot day, he then said to him:
Ya Abā ‘Abdullāh, How do you see this our house?
He said:
Verily, your house is beautiful, however Al-Jannah is more beautiful than it, and the remembrance of Hell, makes you to forget it all.
Bilāl Ibn Abī Burdah said:
What can you say regarding destiny?
Muhammad Ibn Wasi’ rahimahullāhu said:
Your neighbors are the people of the grave, think about their situation in the grave, for verily thinking about them preoccupies one from destiny.
Bilāl said:
Pray for me.
Muhammad said:
What will my supplication do for you? While on your doorstep there are so so and so so people saying: you have indeed oppressed them, and their supplication will surely be accepted before mine, thus, don’t oppress them, and you would not need my prayer in that case.
