Assalamu Alaykum Warahmatullah Wabarakaatuh.

Honored brothers and sisters, May Allah bless you and your families. And may He accept our Ibaadah, as little as they are and grant us Peace and serenity
Amin.

You are welcome to this mornings session of the Halqah
Insha Allah, we shall in the next few days be commenting on the last pages of the beautiful Shaafi’i Corpus: Safwatu Az-Zubad, an authorship of the Polymath Imaam and Jurisconsult Ahmad Bin Hussain Bin Hassan Bin Ali bin Raslaan Ar-Ramli, rahimahullah. May Allah make that easy.

Ibn Raslaan rahimahullah was born in the year 773 in the city of Ramlah in Palestine, may Allah liberate it and bring it back to the Muslims. Others have said he was born in 775, and Allah knows best.

His family was know for its piety, scholarship and dedication to the acquiring of Ilm and its teaching.

Al-Haafidh As-Sakhaawi mentioned in Ad-Daw’u Al-Laami’ that he memorized the Qur’an while he was 10 years and dedicated his youthful period to learning, studying and preoccupieing himself with the affairs of Ilm.

He excelled his peers in the seeking of Ilm and in attaining its heights.

Of his teachers were the Shaafi’i Polymath Abdullahi Al-Bustaami, Al-Haafidh Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalaani, Shamsuddin Al-Qalqashandi, Abu Hurayrah Adh-Dhahabi, Siraajuddin Al-Bulqini, and many others.

He was a Shaafi’i authority in his Era and authored numerous books. Of them are:
Safwatu Az-Zubad which is the book we want to comment on its last chapter. Sharhu Sunan Abi Daawud which is commentary on the Sunan of Imam Abu Daawud As-Sijistaani rahimahullah.

He also has several original and commentary works on different Sciences of the Shar’iah and they are all books looked unto till today by Ulamaa of all cities.

The Safwatu Az-Zubad is a Poetry on Shaafi’i Fiqh that summarizes the main themes and matters discussed in Fiqh in accordance with the Choices in the Shaafi’i School.

He composed it from the Shaafi’i Imaam Ibn Al-Baarizi rahimahullah who passed away 738 years after the Hijrah. He had called it Az-Zubad Fi Maa ‘Alayhi Al-Mu’tamad.

In his poetry rendering, he maintained the Chapter nomenclature and the chapters that only preceded it with an introduction to Usul Ad-Din and a last chapter on Tasawwuf.

In this session of ours, we shall INSHA ALLĀH be taking the last chapter which is an Introduction to Heart Purification. We ask Allah to make it easy, amin.

Attached is a soft copy of the book for whosoever is able to sit in front of a Teacher that may take him through the book and travel its valleys and rivers with him.

Ar-Ramlih passed away 844 years after the Hijrah after living a life filled with piety, dedication and Knowledge.

May Allah have mercy on him and grant him Firdaws, and unite us with him in the Firdaws, amin.

Insha Allah, we shall pause with this introduction today and go into the book proper next week.

Barakallahu fikum
Jazakumullahu Khayran
