Once the leadership of the Muslim Ummah is established and the followership have agreed to be followers, it is the responsibility of the followers and a right of the Imaam to get sound advice from the Followers.
In this regard, the Rasul salallahu alayhi wasallam have regarded being loyal and giving sound advice to the Imam of the Muslims as part of what the Din entails in the Hadith of Abu Ruqayyah Tamim Ad-Daari when he said:
الدين النصيحة… لله ولكتابه ولروسله ولأئمة المسلمين وعامتهم
“The Din is nothing but Loyalty and giving sound advice… To Allah, His Book, His Messenger, to the Imaam of the Muslims and the generality of them”
This is because it is with sincerity of followership, the giving of sound advice and loyalty, that the Muslim Community is strenghtened and the Leader is able to discharge his duties as one…
